The Control Panel has officially entered the phase-out phase, but details of the full transition are still somewhat vague.
Since the release of Windows 1.0 in 1985, the Control Panel has been an integral part of Microsoft's operating systems. The interface has undergone a radical transformation during its nearly 40-year career (development You can follow here), but it seems that its story has come to an end, as the company recently confirmed that it is saying goodbye to the system component.
In 2020, regarding Windows 10, we reported that the Control Panel could disappear from the operating system forever, but rumors about this had already spread much earlier. For the first time in 2011, before the release of Windows 8, we could hear that the inhabitants of Redmond would transform it, and at the same time introduce the interface, but in the end this has not always been the case over the years.
However, the situation may change soon, as it is now official that Microsoft will remove the System item – the Control Panel is currently in the phase-out phase.
