All Xbox online services have been shut down.

A large grain of sand entered my Xbox.

02.07.2024 – Microsoft is not on top of the situation at the moment. According to issue reports submitted by Xbox users on the evening of July 2, Xbox online services were unavailable for hours, which is also problematic because many people are unable to even sign in to their profiles because of this. Those who are able to do so are unable to download anything, cannot play games required to connect online, and cannot access the Xbox Store.

The exact cause of the issue wasn't revealed in an Xbox Support post on Twitter/X, where they just say that some people may be experiencing outages, but that they're aware of the bug and are working hard to get it fixed. Hopefully that'll be soon, as Xbox relies heavily on these features – see Game Pass, which millions of subscribers currently don't have access to.
