2022. Effective April 28, 5% fuel and inflation surcharges will be paid on FBA (Amazon Performance View – Editor’s Note).
Amazon’s performance offerings include product storage, packaging, and shipping. The additional cost does not apply to sellers using the platform without a performance service.
In a letter sent to CNN Business TV, Amazon explained the reasons for these additional fees.
“We expected to return to normal in 2022 as COVID-19 restrictions ease, but fuel and inflation pose further challenges,” the company said in a statement to CNN Business.
Amazon did not say whether the additional cost may increase or decrease and for how long it will remain in effect.
The company only emphasized that it had seen significant cost increases itself, but pledged not to pass some of them on to sellers on its platform.
The introduction of fuel surcharges and inflation is likely to drive up the final prices of the products offered. We should also remember that inflation in the US was 8.5 percent in March.
