Maverick Games is doing cross-platform development, so PlayStation hasn't been left out, as was the case with the developers' previous games.
Maverick Games was founded in 2022 and several of the founding members previously worked on Forza Horizon. It's…an open-world car racing franchise, so it's not too different from what they're developing now. Among the founders we can find Mike Brown, who was the former creative director of Forza Horizon, and now, as president of Maverick Games, holds the position of creative director of the game whose name has not yet been revealed.
Also working on the game are Jamie Brittain (lead writer; won a BAFTA as co-creator of the British TV show Skins), Tom Butcher (executive producer; previously worked on F1 All-Stars as well as the Forza Horizon titles), Matt Craver (art director; Forza Horizon, Grid, Dirt), Gareth Harwood (Content Director; Forza Horizon, Fable reboot), Fraser Strachan (Audio Director; Forza Horizon), Ben Penrose (Art Director; Forza Horizon, Fable reboot)) and Eli Marshall (Visual Design Director; Forza Horizon 3, Just Cause 3, Dirt).
“In our ongoing global search for talented development teams to create engaging games that players will love, Maverick Games has emerged as a studio that can deliver on all fronts,” Christoph Hartmann, vice president of Amazon Games, wrote in the press release. Mike and his team are all-round game developers who master their craft and won't settle for the status quo. Their vision for a new and innovative game, and we look forward to working with them to bring the game to players around the world.
Mike Brown added: “We founded Maverick Games with a clear vision: to create a developer-focused studio that fosters an environment of creativity and risk-taking. This approach enables our team to create some of the most outstanding work of their careers. Ultimately, this means making a game that our players will fall in love with. When we got to know Amazon Games team, it quickly became clear that we shared a common ethos – a commitment to empowering developers to innovate and create experiences that players find truly special. Without giving too much away, I'll share that the team here is passionate about our game and we can't wait to share it with the world.
Maverick Games currently employs over 60 people in Warwick, UK and has several job vacancies on its website. The narrative-driven open-world car game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
