The foul runner also perished, in addition to him, two more died and five were injured. The tournament will continue as planned.

The Women’s Football World Cup is becoming more and more popular, even the members of the women’s field are considered real stars in the world, so a lot of attention is being paid to the tournament, which starts on Thursday.

However, the event was overshadowed by the fact that an attacker killed two people Thursday morning local time and injured at least five shortly before the opening match in Auckland, New Zealand, the venue of the tournament.

Announced Reuters. The shooter was also killed in the attack.

Chris Hipkins The prime minister said the football tournament would go ahead as planned, adding that the shooting appeared to be an isolated attack and the police were not looking for anything else in connection with the incident. Andrew Koster The local police chief added that a police officer and four civilians were wounded in the attack.

The attacker has not yet been officially identified, but it is likely that it was a 24-year-old man who works at a nearby construction site. The soldier started shooting first with a rifle in the construction area, and then locked himself in the elevator shaft. He later fires more shots, and is found dead by the arriving authorities. The attacker with a criminal record was in pretrial detention, but was given permission to operate.

At the time of the shooting, members of the New Zealand, Norwegian, Italian, American, Vietnamese and Portuguese national teams were in the city. The tournament starts at 9 am Hungarian time on Thursday.

In New Zealand, a serious armed attack recently took place in the city of Christchurch: in 2019, an extremist killed 51 Muslims near a place of worship.
