The issue started to get confusing when someone noticed that artwork was displayed in the report
It is almost identical to another painting stolen from a private mansion in 2013.
The owner of the photo claims that he reported the matter to the police. He also said that a few weeks before his painting disappeared, he was approached by a man who wanted to buy the painting. It later turned out that he was one of Al-Saghirbi's friends.
An investigation into the case has begun. The authority suspects that the painting was modified before it was displayed in order to make the similarity between the paintings less obvious.
The 71-year-old Saghirbi became known as a historian and art writer before being appointed Minister of State. He denies stealing the painting. He claims to have found it in the villa his mother bought in 2000, which was owned by a noble family.
