An Israeli Ynet reporter was beaten in the head during a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Malmö

May 10, 2024 – 08:52

A reporter for the Israeli news portal Ynet found himself in the middle of an anti-Israel demonstration in Malmö, and Zeev Avrahamit was even hit on the head with a sharp object – A Ynet journalist spoke about this.

Avrahamit came to the Swedish city to report on the Eurovision Song Contest, but already noticed at the central train station that there was a disturbance in the city. Elderly people and children walked through the streets carrying Palestinian flags in their hands. Drums were beating and everywhere you could read the phrase “Boycott Israel,” and the demonstrating crowd chanted, “From Malmö to Jenin, Palestine will be free.”

The Ynet journalist was initially arrested because he took pictures of the demonstrators with his phone, then he was surrounded by a group of 7-8 Muslims who demanded that he show his documents and prove that he was neither Israeli nor Jewish. Avrahami did so and replied that he was both. “They surrounded me and hit me on the head with a sharp object. Then I collapsed, put my hands on my head and looked for a way to escape. The Swedish police who were at the scene only observed the demonstration and did not Intervenes”.

Pro-Palestinian movements are increasingly organized not only across Europe, but also on American campuses – we have written about this in more detail here.
