For all Israelis in Hungary who want to return to Israel:
So far, 550 Israelis have indicated via WhatsApp that their flight has been canceled and that they are seeking assistance from the embassy.
As a general rule, the airline is responsible for finding an alternative flight to Israel and providing accommodation until the flight time, but this does not appear to be the case.
Currently, Wizz Air has canceled its flights to Israel, and regular flights of Elal, Israir and Ryanair are full.
Cancellations or no-shows on Elal Airlines flights (usually foreign tourists) allow Elal to sell regular or reserve flight tickets for $300.
Naturally, priority will be given to families of martyrs or dead arriving in Israel before other travelers on the list.
In the current situation, there are too many requests and most of the scheduled flights are unavailable.
Air transportation: We ask everyone to note that according to the latest information, the government is currently not allowing air transportation to any destination in the world, leaving thousands of Israelis stranded abroad. Since this decision is unlikely to change any time soon, we recommend that those wishing to travel to Israel try to travel via other destinations (such as Athens or Istanbul).
In addition, we are trying to put Israeli passengers on a Hungarian Air Force flight to Israel, which goes into the country to rescue Hungarian tourists. We will update the information as soon as we know if this is possible. Until then, we advise you not to wait for a response and look for other options on other flight routes.
If you still want to try your luck and fly with Elal on a waitlist basis, you can do so only if you arrive at the Elal check-in desk three hours before take-off. Priority is given to families of soldiers or martyrs if there is space on the flight.
