Earlier, we also reported that Huawei is working on a smartphone that can be folded in three directions, and this device will in principle appear sometime in the near future. The special device recently fell into the hands of the company's CEO, and now we can see it in another image.
The phone has appeared in Richard Yu's hands once again, this time in a folded state. We consider it unlikely that these are random leaks, and it is not at all impossible that the Chinese company wanted to use these images to tune fans and potential buyers into the arrival of the phone. In addition, now that we have seen the device in its folded state, it is noticeably thinner, even despite the protruding camera island.
Making a bendable smartphone slim is something of a luxury among Chinese manufacturers, so it’s no wonder they’re now trying to highlight this particular aspect of their niche. And if we also add that the device is expected to have a 10-inch display when unfolded, the work of the developers and engineers deserves even more praise. The camera island reminds us of the Mate X5, and even with it, the phone/tablet doesn’t feel overly thick, but rather quite wide in the CEO’s grip.
The device is likely to be powered by a silicon-carbon battery, which is already being used by several Chinese manufacturers. This design allows for higher energy density, which is remarkable even though these batteries do not yet offer what traditional batteries do in terms of charging speed.
At the moment, we have no idea what this particular device might be called, all we know is that it might debut before the Mate 70 series arrives. The flagship phones with a traditional design are expected to arrive sometime in the middle or late fourth quarter of the year.
