Another post-Soviet country entered Russia with two feet

Azerbaijan has been cautious about its relations with Russia in recent years. The Caucasus State has always been balanced between its ally Turkey and Moscow, However, it seems that the recent Armenian-Azerbaijani border incident and the inaction of Russia, which plays the role of mediator in the region, made it easier for Baku to choose one of the sides.

Ironically, Armenia, the sworn enemy of Baku, is increasingly attacking an unfriendly tone towards Russia. In the summer, Yerevan asked Moscow for help to repel the Azerbaijani attack, but Moscow, probably due to the fighting in Ukraine, did not provide support to its ally.

It was also said on state television that Azerbaijan may initiate the secession of the Azeris living in the northern part of Iran, which is allied with Moscow, from the Islamic Republic. About Azerbaijani-Iranian relations over here We wrote in more detail.
