Apple refunds incorrect fees – Economy – News

The Apple App Store mistakenly debited a large amount of accounts belonging to Hungarian bank cards a few hours after 6pm on June 26, 2024, and the amount will be refunded, the Hungarian Banking Association told MTI on Thursday.

According to the information, the banking sector detected the erroneous transactions thanks to the quick signals of the affected Hungarian cardholders, and acted as an intermediary to deal with the situation immediately.

The banking sector has contacted the service provider. Based on the information available so far, the affected transactions relate exclusively to previous or current subscriptions or purchases, with incorrect technical replication. Purchases from physical terminals or cash withdrawal transactions are not affected – they are written in the announcement.

They point to Apple's statement that there are no signs of misuse. There was no misuse of customer data, no data was compromised. Apple accepts relevant customer inquiries. The Hungarian Banking Association announced that based on their feedback, a refund of the amounts that were wrongly deducted due to a technical issue is underway.
