Armed soldiers sweep through central La Paz – There is a military coup in Bolivia

Bolivian President Luis Arce strongly condemned the “irregular mobilization” of some army units No Bazban. Former leader Evo Morales publicly accused a high-ranking general of planning a coup.

A Reuters witness said that heavily armed soldiers and armored vehicles gathered in the central square, while an armored vehicle stormed the presidential palace and the soldiers rushed inside.

“It seems that three commanders of the armed forces are expressing our shock,” General Juan Jose Zuniga said in an interview with a local television station. “There will be a new government, things will definitely change, but our country cannot continue like this.”

Zuniga spoke to reporters in the field before the attack on the National Palace.

He said, wearing full military uniform and accompanied by soldiers. He emphasized that The work they are preparing has the support of the public.

Evo Morales, who has publicly broken with Arce even though they belong to the same socialist movement, said his supporters would mobilize in defense of democracy.

Morales accused Zuniga of attempting a coup and declared a general work stoppage. He also published a call to close roads. “We will not allow the armed forces to violate democracy and intimidate people,” Morales said.
