For the fourth time in a row, Aston Martin is providing the Safety Car for Formula 1. As with last year, the Safety Car has been developed from the Vantage, but in the meantime there has been a model change, so the 2024 car is a completely new build and, moreover, is stronger and more Dynamic than any of its predecessors.
To serve as a safety car, the 2024 Vantage has undergone a special transformation.
They didn't touch the engine. The 4.0-litre V8 also produces 665bhp and 800Nm in Formula 1, but what's even greater is that the cooling system and brakes required no modifications beyond optimizing the settings.
The coupe's aerodynamic package has been further revised. The design of the lower panel was changed, the front splitter became longer and its profile changed. The rear spoiler was replaced, and the roof-mounted light bridge received a streamlined design.
There are special racing seats inside, FIA-regulated switches on the center console, and two high-resolution, widescreen displays on the passenger side display the positions of the race cars and the reversing camera image. The interior is resplendent in Aston Martin's racing colours.
The Vantage is not the only Aston Martin to play an official role in the 2024 Formula 1 season: the medical car is still the DBX707 crossover introduced last year.
As before, Aston Martins now also act as a backup, alternating with cars provided by Mercedes-AMG to ensure the safety of the stadium.
