ASUS Shows Off Its First Intel Lunar Lake-Based Laptop

One of the first ASUS laptops based on Intel Lunar Lake will be the ExpertBook P5, which has the product code P5405. In the case of the laptop, which is primarily aimed at business and professional users, the manufacturer has done its best not to specifically name the new development anywhere, in relation to the processor, but some bits of information were sprinkled, based on which the situation is quite clear. The Intel team has previously revealed everything worth knowing about the development called Lunar Lake, intended specifically for thin and light laptops.

The information includes that the new platform provides three times the performance of AI than before. The NPU is capable of delivering performance of up to 45+ TOPS, and the combined performance of iGPU, CPU, and NPU reaches 100+ TOPS. While discussing the basic structure of Lunar Lake processors, it was previously revealed that the new generation of NPU can achieve performance of 48 TOPs, while the performance of the entire platform is 120 TOPs, so it fully meets all the requirements of the processor. Microsoft Copilot+ PC class.

The ExpertBook P5 itself is a light and nimble yet extremely durable laptop, and it also sells with a sleek and modern design. It is based on a high-quality aluminum chassis, which should be strong enough, even to meet the requirements detailed in military standards, in terms of durability. However, it is a lightweight development at just 1,300 grams, which surrounds a 2.5K resolution and 144Hz display with anti-reflective coating with thin bezels.

In terms of hardware, the system memory has already been revealed to be available with a maximum of 32 GB, and a total of 3 TB of SSD can take care of data storage. Two of the latter can be placed in M.2 slots, and one of them can be soldered to the motherboard. Security is ensured by a number of functions, such as a dedicated TPM 2.0 module, a chip covering the built-in webcam, a Kensington Nano slot, and an ASUS Adaptive Lock IR camera, which allows biometric user identification. The new laptop also features support for Wi-Fi 7.

Adequate cooling performance is ensured by an improved cooling system, which efficiently performs its task both when the screen is open and closed. The latter is useful when the laptop is connected to a docking station and used from an external monitor with an external keyboard and mouse. By the way, the screen of the new laptop can be opened at an angle of 180 degrees, and the keyboard itself consists of larger keys than usual that move along a path of 1.5 mm.

As things stand, the Expertbook P4 P5405 could be released sometime in the second half of the year, most likely during the third quarter.
