Due to the Olympic qualification, there is also more interest in circuit racing in Hungarian road cycling this year, which puts the Gemenc Grand Prix in a stronger light. The interest of international teams has increased not only because of the five-ring games, but also because in 2022 the International Cycling Union (UCI) gave a very good evaluation of the competition, according to the competition’s official website.
They add that among the clubs that cycled here last year, there are also many who would like to cycle on the hills around Szekszárd again this year, such as the champions New Zealand team, Bolton Equities Black Spoke, or the Polish HRE MAZOWSZE Serce Polski, who signed Victor Villotas. In addition to the usual interest in Czech, Romanian, Italian, Austrian and Slovenian, inquiries also came from Germany, Belgium, Great Britain and France. A team registered in Canada, in which cyclists from twelve countries compete, as well as professional teams from Tashkent and Samarkand from Uzbekistan, would like to visit the Tolna province, where – next to Hungarian – The Bulgarian national team also wants to start in the ring.
The 49th Gemenc Grand Prix will take place from July 14-15-16, the “zero” day of the road race, and the two stages will be preceded by a prologue with single starts.
