Attila Molnar exited the semi-finals of the 400 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest on Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, the FTC competitor had already completed two rounds at the National Sports Center and was able to celebrate the national pinnacle both times. On the opening day, he was an active part of the Hungarian record as a member of the 4 x 400 mixed relay, where he was the first person to pass the relay baton to the first. In the 400 meter heats, he broke his own national record with a time of 44.84 seconds.

In the semifinals, Molnar ran track nine alongside Olympic and two-time world champion Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa. In addition to the first two places, the other two athletes with the best time entered the final. As usual, the 21-year-old Hungarian racer set off bravely, and Van Niekerk caught up with him at the second corner. Molnar was still strong when he reached the finish line, but he tired in the final meters and finished sixth with a time of 45.02 seconds.
Attila Molnar: I wanted to come in, but I couldn’t give you this
After the semi-finals, he told M4 Sport that he had reached the limits of his ability to perform. “This was my only chance. I either made it or I didn’t.”
“I was very tired, my heart and soul were in it, unfortunately it was enough for the moment, but I gave everything I had. I wanted to give the public a final, that’s why I have shortcomings, but I’m happy with what I achieved,” he told MTI. “If we were to break this race down into a long distance, I came in about a meter behind the heat, which, if extended over a 400-metre straight, wouldn’t be very big, but it’s still huge now.” – confirmed the national leader.
