Women's C-1200m: Moving from hope to semi-finals
In Vayres-sur-Marne, a suburb of Paris, we can support four Hungarian boats in Thursday morning's kayak and canoe races. In the first race of the day, in the women's C-1200m heats Little Agnes And Takach Kinxo We were interested in the first two places in each race qualifying directly for the semi-finals on Saturday, while the others are interested in the hope race on Thursday afternoon. The first race brought together Poland and Brazil, the second American and Russian, and the third Spanish and Canadian.
Olympic newcomer Agnes Kiss was already in the fourth race, only behind the Spanish Maria Corbera, who advanced in second place, with long hair, with a photo finish. The race was won by Canadian Katie Vincent, and Kiss took third place, to be able to participate in the middle race in the afternoon. The 30-year-old Takács Kincső, who started in the fifth race, was already the 2014 world champion in the C-2500, and in this distance, in the C-1200, he competed in the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, finishing 14th. (In the C-2500 with Virág Balla, they finished fifth in Tokyo.) She is now in great competition with the Chilean Maria Milliard for the lead, but in the end she was also left behind with a photo finish, to be able to continue the race of hope for third place in the race.
In the early afternoon, Case finished second in the first Hope Race, thus qualifying for Saturday's semi-finals, just like Takacs, who won the Hope Race and reached the semi-finals.
Kenso Takac: – “Of course, it was certain that if I got to the middle because of the heat, I didn’t want to take any risks. It was good from the point of view that I gained experience in races under two hours. I tried to determine who my competitors would be, so I built my race. I knew that if I went with the Chinese, we would be in the first two, and I was also very happy that I was able to put the boat in front.”
Agnes's kiss: – “I had a very good run in qualifying as well, and I managed to overtake the bronze medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, Ukrainian Lyudmila Lozan, but I was a bit disappointed that I missed the semi-finals a bit. In the second race, I didn’t have a good start, there was a bit of a headwind, and I didn’t really find myself in the starting car. That held me back a bit, but then I tried to climb and had a good run.”
Race C – Men's 2500m: Final here
In the semi-finals of the men's race C – 2500 meters Adolf Balazs, Jonathan Hajdu The duo could already aim to reach the afternoon final, as at least one boat out of five had to be overtaken, and they succeeded in three, thus reaching the final in second place. The race was won by a Russian duo, while the French finished last, in fifth place, and thus will not be there in the final. Our team achieved a better time (1:39.83) than the Chinese team who won the second semi-final (1:40.83), which is certainly an encouraging sign ahead of the afternoon final.
