AMD and Ubisoft have partnered closely, pushing the PC version of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – even with a special-looking card.
Ubisoft will have a few more games ahead of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Crew Motorfest will also arrive first), but since the publisher’s new releases follow one another with relatively little variation, and they’ll all be released this year, marketers are trying to push them. All to the fore.
They’re having an easy time with Avatar, not only because it’s associated with an established franchise, but also because they’ve partnered with AMD, which also offers everything. (Could this be because GPUs have been codenamed Navi since the RX 5000, and the blue creatures in Avatar are Na’vi?)
A special edition AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX video card has just been revealed, powered by a Navi 31 GPU and 24GB of RAM, but perhaps even more exciting is that it has a heat-responsive coating. As the devices heat up, special textures appear on them.
Unfortunately, you can’t buy them, AMD will raffle off some of them and give them away as prizes at events. And we hope that it will end up in good hands, and not for the exploiters.
