The head of the higher education institution, Daniel David, said that in addition to traditional majors, they are opening up to innovative fields, such as engineering, technology and biomedicine majors. The former is closely related to information technology and artificial intelligence and is launched at the request of Cluj-Napoca companies. He added that there is a great demand for graduates who have acquired knowledge in the field of digital sciences, and that is why the digital media major will be launched in Hungarian with a bachelor’s degree from the fall, while the cognitive sciences major will be launched in English. .
Cybersecurity in English and Bioinformatics in Applied Life Sciences are new disciplines in the Master’s programme, as are majors in Climate Change, Sustainable Development, Tourism Resources and Sustainable Development.
Among the master’s programs in Hungarian, the Clinical Psychology: Evaluation and Intervention and the Financial and Business Data Analysis specializations are most adapted to the expectations of modern times.
Daniel David noted that, according to his experience, fewer students are completing master’s degrees, even though they offer a full qualification in many fields, such as psychology. He advised Romanian youth to choose Romanian universities with a good reputation, because thanks to the Erasmus program they can study abroad and not be separated from Romanian reality.
He stated that BBTE is the most complex higher education institution in the country and the European Union, it has three departments – Romanian, Hungarian and German – and also provides courses in English. As he said, they primarily want to provide free and affordable training for young Romanians, but they also welcome foreign applicants. He added that BBTE is a member of the most prestigious European university networks and also emphasizes research.
Anna Suss, Vice-Chancellor for Studies and Head of the Hungarian Department, clarified the summer admission information and said: 29,000 places are being announced for the 2023-2024 academic year. There are approximately five thousand tuition-free study places and ten thousand required tuition-fee places in full-time education, and another three thousand places in distance education. Among the tuition-free places, there are special places reserved for young people of Roma nationality, graduates of rural secondary schools, people coming from the social welfare system, and people of the Romanian diaspora. 3,600 tuition-free places are announced and 6,200 places are required for master’s degrees. There are 315 tuition-free places for Romanian and EU students in doctoral schools, and there will also be nearly a hundred tuition-free places. They can choose from 252 bachelor’s programs and 236 master’s programs, and can pursue their studies in 31 doctoral schools.
