Barcelona is unbeatable from the throne of the international bar scene

Barcelona is unbeatable from the throne of the international bar scene

The list of the best bars was announced for the 15th time on Tuesday, and for the first time in the history of the world’s 50 best bars, as part of a large-scale ceremony organized at one of the Asian locations in Singapore. This year’s list includes bars from 28 different cities around the world, including 11 cities that were not included in the 2022 selections.

Hemcock in Oslo came in tenth place in the ranking, preceded by Alchemico Bar in Cartagena, Colombia. The eighth is Tayēr + Elementary in London, the seventh is Licirería Limantour in Mexico City, and the sixth is Little Red Door in Paris.

In the top five, there have been no changes since last year. The Connaught Pub in London took fifth place, and so the capital of Great Britain and Mexico, following the example of Barcelona, “delegated” two restaurants to the top ten on the list, although the famous pubs of the Catalan capital can boast a better position than everyone else (and occupy a total Four places in the top 50 list away).

There is Paradiso, which opens from a “fridge” in a pastrami shop and is run by the legendary couple Giacomo Giannotti and Margherita Sader.

On the third step of the imaginary platform is the Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City. The drinks created under the leadership of Eric Van Beek are true works of contemporary art, while the interior of the bar evokes the mid-20th century.

Double Chicken Please in New York, whose founders, Jin Chan and Fei Chen, have long held pop-up cocktail parties out of a rickety Volkswagen minivan, also won a silver medal this year, and today they are unavoidable figures in New York City. The international bar, which is huge, can dictate directions quickly.

The best bar in Barcelona, Cibes, took the title of best bar in the world this time around as well. As the logic goes, it’s simply because two of the most creative minds in the cocktail world work together to come up with new, memorable drinks every week. The place founded by Simone Caporale and Marc Alvarez in 2021 has thus been ranked first on the platform for two years already!
