A bear attacked two people, a 14-year-old pregnant girl and a 68-year-old man, on Sunday evening in Transylvania's Brasso County, and the victims were taken to hospital with multiple injuries, News.ro reported based on information from the Brasso County Disaster Prevention Inspectorate (ISU).
According to the Disaster Prevention Inspectorate, the incident occurred on Sunday evening in the settlement of Krizpa (Krizpav), and an ambulance, two ambulances and the gendarmerie were dispatched to the scene. One of the victims, a 14-year-old girl who was six months pregnant, was taken to the maternity hospital in Brasov with multiple injuries around her right kidney. The other victim, a 68-year-old man, who suffered serious head injuries from the big game, was taken to the district hospital in Brasov, where his injuries are being treated, the news portal wrote based on the statement of the Implementation Support Unit. The authorities say that both victims were conscious when they were treated by paramedics. The authorities issued a telephone alert to the residents of the settlement warning them of the danger. The Implementation Support Unit has not yet provided information about the circumstances of the bear attack.
Several similar bear attacks have occurred in Romania in recent months. In early September, a bear attacked a person in Maramaros County and a week earlier in Peszterce Naszód County. Not long ago, there was a similar case in North Transylvania County. In Chatoszeg, Hargita County, a bear attacked people twice in August and was eventually shot. In early July, a 19-year-old girl lost her life after being attacked by a bear on a popular hiking trail in the Bucseks Mountains, MTI reported.
