Riots broke out in Bern on Sunday night, at a riding school next to the train station. Several masked rioters attacked police, who responded to the alarm with rocks, bottles and firecrackers. He writes The Neue Zurich Zeitung newspaper quoted a statement from the cantonal police. 11 policemen were injured in the clash, three of whom are being treated in hospital.
According to the statement, the police received a report shortly after midnight that containers had been pushed into the street in front of the nearby horse riding school and that they were trying to set fire to them. When the police arrived, a number of masked people had set up barricades in the streets near the equestrian center. Due to police measures and barriers, two streets were closed for several hours. In addition to the injured police officers, several patrol cars and civilian vehicles were also damaged. The physical damage is significant.
The Bern-Maitland Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into the case, and the police are currently looking for witnesses. The press has not yet published any additional information about the identity of the perpetrators.
