The Bizzarrini brand has been revived, and its first new model will be a super sports car bearing the Giotto name in honor of its founder, whose shape was designed by Giugiaro and the naturally aspirated V12 engine was designed by Cosworth.
Giotto Bizzarrini was one of the greatest figures in automotive history of the 20th century and is credited with creating the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO and the first Lamborghini V12 engine, which was used for decades. After visiting various manufacturers, he founded his own company, but only one hundred and fifty examples of the 5300 GT based on his ideas were built in the second half of the 1960s, before the brand went bankrupt.
Bizzarrini is now being revived and its first model was named Giotto in honor of its recently deceased founder.
Just as Bertone’s studio Giorgetto Giugiaro created the look of the original 5300 GT sixty years ago, Giotto’s new lines have also been designed by the renowned designer’s Turin studio, GFG Style. Of course, the new model is very similar to the original only because it has a mid-engined design.
Along with the first images, Bizzarrini also revealed that powering the new Giotto will be a 6.6-liter naturally aspirated V12.
Developed with help from Cosworth, the English company knows a thing or two about high-speed motors. However, we still have to wait for the details, since Bizzarrini factories are grinding slowly this time around, road tests for the first prototypes won’t start until 2024, the start of production will be later than that.
