Blinkin: The United States is committed to the security and territorial integrity of Ukraine, a new word

The United States is committed to Ukraine’s security and territorial integrity, and that will not change, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said on Wednesday after talks with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba in Washington.

Blinken also spoke of the United States’ strong monitoring of the situation on the Russian-Ukrainian border.

The US Secretary of State said that “reports of unusual Russian military activity near Ukraine are worrying.” “We are not aware of Moscow’s intentions, but we know their rules of the game. If there are provocations, they come from Russia.” He said Moscow’s deliberate provocations could be a pretext for military intervention.

About ninety thousand Russian soldiers are stationed close to the Russian-Ukrainian border, as well as in the regions of eastern Ukraine controlled by pro-Moscow separatists, according to a report by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry last Wednesday. According to the ministry, after one of the maneuvers in Russia, units of the 41st Russian Army remained in Gelnya, 260 kilometers north of the Ukrainian border.

Kuliba Blinken thanked him for his support to the United States after the trial. He said the key to fighting Russian aggression is to maintain the strength of Ukraine and its allies to stand strong.

“What is happening in Europe now is a very complex matter and has many elements,” the Ukrainian foreign minister said. In this context, he drew attention to cyber-attacks and disinformation aimed at destabilizing democracies, and the use of migrants to incite unrest and military troop movements.

“In this complex game, we have to remain vigilant, and we have to persevere,” Kuleba added.

After negotiations, Blinken and Koleba signed a bilateral strategic partnership agreement. In the document, the United States promised to support Ukraine’s efforts to combat armed aggression, economic and energy disruption, and Russia’s malicious cyber activities, including maintaining sanctions against Russia and other measures. Under the agreement, Washington remains committed to helping train Ukrainian soldiers, and supporting Kiev’s efforts to obtain NATO membership.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, every possible defense cooperation that enhances its military capabilities, including the exchange of intelligence information or the deployment of air defense systems, will benefit his country.

“We are in a position where we cannot waste time and look forward to working with the United States in this area,” Kuleba added.
