As previously written by Huszonketto.hu, Attila Molnar has already made sporting history in the history of the World Indoor Championships by reaching the final in the 400 metres. While he was there, he finished fifth in a brave performance.
Attila Molnar finished fifth in the men's 400 meters on Saturday at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Glasgow. The 22-year-old Hungarian competitor appeared in Scotland on Friday morning with a time of 46.52 seconds, reaching the semi-finals with a heat victory, in which he set his previous national record (46.22) with a time of 46.08 seconds and qualified for the semi-finals. The final is on Saturday in third place.
The runner from Ferencvaros started well and tried to keep up with the field, but got stuck at the halfway point, with four people cutting in front of him in the single track, thus losing his initial momentum and finally finishing in fifth place with 46.11 seconds.
“The first 200 meters was good, I had my own rhythm, and I had to get it back, because I had to let the Portuguese in, so he wouldn’t close the door in my face, because then I would have fallen to the ground.” A path that was not his fault. I got it back and we kept running, there was nothing to improve on, I'm not saying it was perfect, but I did my best and now that's it,” Attila Molnar told MTI and added: “Fulfilling the dream” to run the same race with the owners World records.
Olympic level Attila Molnar is the first Hungarian man in the 400 meters to reach the final of the World Indoor Championships.
The event was won by Belgian Alexander Dohm with a time of 45.25 seconds.
