Calico is a life simulation game, where you can shape your character to your liking, buy clothes and hairstyles for him, and take a look at the daily life of the newfound small town. According to the story, the protagonist inherits the famous cat cafe in the city from his aunt (of course, you don’t have to think badly, the aunt has decided that she would rather travel the world and not do her duties in the city), and she has to run it. You have to decorate the café, learn recipes, bake different cakes for the guests, and of course take care of the animals. Although the game’s title and visuals suggest that it will be all about cats, that couldn’t be further from the truth. All kinds of animals roaming in the city and in the surrounding forest can be persuaded with the help of our special abilities (present at the beginning of the game) to let us pet them, follow us or even go to our café and live with us from then on. In addition, we can use magic to change the size of animals, so that they can sit on top of our heads or ride on us. During the few hours I spent playing the game, I didn’t necessarily limit myself to cats — I only got two of them — but I also transported several crows, dogs, and a red panda to my café and to my apartment right upstairs.
