Registration had to close early, so many people applied for the 17th Campus Sports Festival. In a unique way in the country, the University of Debrecen is organizing the sports competition for students of higher education institutions on July 23 and 24, this year on the Böszörményi út campus, as a companion program to one of the largest local light music festivals.
Inquiries are still ongoing, although the application deadline for the Campus Sports Festival has already closed, with teams able to compete in small-court soccer, 3×3 basketball and beach volleyball again this year.
– The participation in all three sports was oversubscribed, and we had to expand the originally planned group sizes. Never in the history of the competition have we had to close registration prematurely, we simply cannot accept more applications, although we still receive letters asking if it is still possible to join. The number of participants is over a thousand people, 140 of whom are coming from across the border. In addition to the people of Debrecen, almost all Hungarian higher education institutions are represented, and our university is providing accommodation for over 400 people this year, which is also unprecedented – it was opened Veronica VenevesMember of the Organizing Committee of the Sports Festival.

– The purpose of the Campus Sports Festival is to promote sports and sports, and to create a community event where fans and competitors from different educational institutions can build relationships. The event has the ability to build community and connect sports and entertainment. Due to the European University Games also taking place in Debrecen, the Campus Sports Festival will unusually be hosted by the Böszörményi út campus of the University of Debrecen.
