TORONTO (AP) — Canada will play the Netherlands in an exhibition on June 6 in Rotterdam in what the Canadians hope will be a warm-up match for the Copa America.
The Canadian Football Association announced the match on Thursday.
Canada plays Trinidad and Tobago on March 23 in Frisco, Texas, for a spot in the Copa America. The winner advances to Copa Group A matches against defending champions Argentina on June 20 in Atlanta, Peru five days later in Kansas City, Kansas, and Chile on June 29 in Orlando, Florida.
Costa Rica and Honduras will meet in the other Copa America qualifier match on March 23.
The Netherlands is preparing for the European Championship in Germany, opening its matches against Wales, Finland, Poland or Estonia on June 16, then playing France five days later and Austria on June 25.
Canada has played the Netherlands once before, a 3-0 loss in Toronto in June 1994, with Frank Rijkaard, Marc Overmars and Dennis Bergman scoring.

The Dutch have qualified for 11 FIFA World Cups, finishing as runners-up in 1974 (to West Germany), 1978 (Argentina) and 2010 (to Spain). They reached the quarter-finals in 2022 in Qatar, losing to Argentina on penalties
