Team Canada has reached the semi-finals of the 2023 Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland. On Friday, Canada defeated the Finnish team, Kalpa, 6-3, in the second match of the two quarter-final matches.

Former Ottawa Senators center Chris DiDomenico of Woodbridge, Ontario led Team Canada with three points. He had two goals and one assist, and was the only Canadian player with a multi-point game. Other Canadian players who have scored are Jonathan Ang from Markham, Ontario, John Quenneville from Edmonton, Alberta, Jonathan Hazen from Val Belair, Quebec and Guillaume Asselin from Quebec City, Quebec.

Team Canada will now face HC Dinamo Pardubice in the second semi-final on Saturday. HC Dinamo Pardubice, who play in the Czech Extraliga in the Czech Republic, won the Torriani group with a 3-2 extra-time win over Switzerland's HC Ambre Biota on Boxing Day, and a 2-1 win over Kalpa on 28 December.

The other semi-final match will feature the Swiss HC Davos and Sweden's Frolunda HC. Both teams were in the Team Canada pool, with HC Davos defeating Frolunda HC 4-1 on December 27. In the other quarter-final on Friday, Frolunda HC beat HC Ambre-Piota 5-0. It should be noted that HC Ambre Biota was the defending champion, defeating Czech Republic's HC Sparta Praha 3-2 in the final last year.
