Canada reaches the semi-finals of the World Men's Curling Championship

Team Canada has reached the semifinals of the 2024 World Men's Curling Championship. Heading into the final day of pool play at the World Men's Curling Championship in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, Canada needed to win both matches to finish in second place with a record of 10 wins and two losses. They accomplished this feat by defeating Japan 9-3 and Switzerland 8-1.

It was just two dominant performances for the Canadian team, eclipsed by Canadian Olympic gold medalist Brad Gushue of St. John's, Newfoundland. In Canada's win over Japan, Canada scored three points in the third end to take a 4-1 lead. They then stole four points in the fourth end and stole an extra point in the fifth end to take a 9-1 lead. Then in Canada's win over Switzerland, Canada scored four points in the second end, stole a point in the third end, then stole two points in the fourth end to take a 7-0 lead. Both matches ended after six ends.

Canada will now face the winner of Scotland and the United States in the semifinals on Saturday at 8 a.m. MT. Meanwhile, Sweden will wait for the winner from Italy and Germany. The gold medal game will be Sunday at 7 a.m. MT. Gushue won the gold medal in men's curling at 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.
