Milton, Ontario. – Canadian cyclist Dylan Pepik outlasted his rivals and took gold at the UCI Track Nations Cup on Friday.
The 20-year-old Mississauga native was the last rider on the track in the men's elimination race, finishing ahead of Japan's Shunsuke Imamura (silver) and Great Britain's Mark Stewart (bronze).
Canadians also made the podium in the men's team sprint, with Ryan Dudek, James Hedgecock and Tyler Rourke taking bronze and qualifying for this summer's Paris Olympics. The Netherlands took first place and Great Britain took the silver medal.
Olympic gold medalist Kelsey Mitchell and teammates Lorianne Genest and Sarah Urban finished on the podium, finishing fourth in the team race after Poland beat them in the bronze medal round. The Netherlands came in first place and Mexico came in second place.
The women's team competition also saw Canada finish fourth, with Erin Atwell, Ariane Bonhomme, Maggie Coles-Lister and Sarah Van Dam losing to France in the bronze final. Great Britain took gold and Italy won silver.
Van Dam also came in fourth place in the women's elimination race.
The UCI Track Nations Cup runs until Sunday.
