LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Canadian Carmelina Moscato has joined the National Women's Soccer League's Racing Louisville as an assistant coach.

The Canadian Soccer Hall of Famer won 94 caps for Canada between 2002 and 2015.

The 39-year-old, from Mississauga, Ontario, was the head coach and technical director of Mexican side Tigres. Moscato was the first foreign-born coach to win a Liga MX title and the first to win a Cup for Tigres, who went 31-8-5 in the league under her.

Louisville's head coach is 35-year-old Bev Yanez, a 2015 NWSL MVP finalist who spent a season playing for Moscato in the Seattle Reign.

“This is a huge coup for Louisville Racing,” GM Ryan Deal said in a statement. “Carmelina is one of the brightest minds in our sport, so adding her to our coaching staff alongside Bev and our talented and accomplished group of coaches is a huge win for us. We want to focus on individual development and attention to detail, and Carmelina immediately adds tremendous quality in both areas. I can’t wait To see her working with Bev, our staff and the players.

Before joining Tigres, Moscato coached Danish club FC Nordsjæland and in the youth ranks of FC Canada.
