Captain America: Brave New World's protagonist shows off his new costume.

Anthony Mackie has followed in the footsteps of Steve Rogers played by Chris Evans in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier TV series and become the new Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His character will soon (well, relatively soon) get a new movie, with Captain America: New World Order coming in February 2025.

The premiere is still a long way off, so we can't expect a real preview anytime soon, but small teasers may arrive. Case in point is the photo from the shoot below, which Mackie himself shared on Instagram.

In addition to the main hero, the film will also feature Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon, and Tim Blake Nelson will also return as the main villain named Leader. Harrison Ford will play Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who is actually the President of the United States at the time of the film (he was previously a US Army general and US Secretary of State), and Liv Tyler will play Bruce Banner's love interest (Hulk), Beatty will play Ross – last seen in 2008's The Incredible Hulk.

But let's quickly go back to Anthony Mackie's photo, which the actor posted yesterday, to celebrate Independence Day. This day celebrates the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, in which their country declared its independence from Great Britain. The photo shows Mackie in his new Captain America costume.

Before Captain America: Brave New World arrives, Marvel fans will of course have something to watch: This year, the TV series Agatha All Along, Eyes of Wakanda, and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man are coming, and in the summer, moviegoers can catch up on Deadpool & Wolverine. Next year, a new Captain America movie will follow Thunderbolts* in May 2025 — and we still don’t know why that asterisk is at the end of the title.
