The Notre Dame building came under fire on April 15, 2019. News of the disaster spread in the press in an instant, and the whole world stood in shock to see the destruction of an iconic symbol of European culture. They found it by chance
The cathedral, built over a period of 158 years, wreaked havoc in just a few hours. The large member survived the flames, and even the extinguishing action did not cause any damage to it, rather thick lead powder was deposited on it as a result of the fire. After the disaster, the instrument was completely dismantled and is now beginning to be restored so that it can return to Notre Dame in its former splendor, where it was first played in 1733.
Nineteen windshields are being restored in a rural workshop, and at another site, 8000 whistles of the instrument are being cleaned of toxic substances deposited as a result of the fire. Subsequently, the rest of the organ will be restored, for example, in the summer, the four large blowers will be renewed. Incidentally, a donation of 844 million euros (313 billion HUF) was collected from 340,000 donors from 150 countries around the world to rebuild the cathedral in Paris.
During the reconstruction work, archaeological excavations were also carried out, during which several hitherto unknown tombs were discovered in the church, including a completely intact lead sarcophagus in which a “high dignity” from the 14th century is supposed to have been buried. The tombs were found at the intersection of the main nave and the cruise ship.
Look inside with the camera
The camera, which led to the coffin, showed the remains of plants, hair and clothing under the head of the deceased, but no sign was found identifying the body, guardian Referring to AFP. Dominique Garcia, president of Inrap (French’s National Archaeological Institute), said more tests would be done, including DNA tests, but added:

A pit was also discovered in the cathedral under the current floor in which colorful sculptures were excavated. These were part of the ancient mausoleum, which was built in 1230 and destroyed in the early 18th century. Parts of the network were found as early as the 19th century, during the construction of the upper part of the church tower, and are now visible in the Louvre, MTI wrote.
