Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, lead quest designer for The Witcher 3, has been confirmed by the recently founded Polish Rebel Wolves team. A man can do what he does best: a midwife in a three-person dark fantasy RPG.
The Warsaw-based studio was founded in 2022 by The Witcher 3 director Konrad Tomaskiewicz, who was also the production director of Cyberpunk 2077. Several veteran CD Projekt RED players have already joined Rebel Wolves, and now they've been able to sign another pro Famous.
Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, who previously served as lead quest designer in The Witcher 3 and its expansions, and was also responsible for quests in Cyberpunk 2077, has been appointed creative director. Before joining Rebel Wolves, he spent two years as lead narrative designer for Riot Games' upcoming MMO League of Legends.
“There are so many great RPGs available today, but I feel there is still room for us and players are hungry for compelling stories.” – said Tomaskiewicz, and how right he is!
At any given time, we can tolerate a AAA dark fantasy RPG steeped in Slavic mythology, and how lucky we are that this is exactly how the studio is working with Unreal Engine 5, which will be the first part of the saga. There will be money for that, as NetEase will help them finance the project. Development has already entered alpha, with more details scheduled to be shared later this year.
