Celine Dion arrived in Paris on Tuesday morning, and it seems increasingly certain that the Canadian singer, who has been living in isolation for years, will also perform at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on Friday evening. Le Parisien writes.
The 56-year-old singer announced in late 2022 that she suffers from an autoimmune disease called stiff person syndrome, which causes muscle stiffness and spasms and affects the vocal cords. Dion has not been on stage since her diagnosis — more than four years ago — though she has said in recent interviews that she is doing everything she can to return. “I will get back on stage, even if I have to get on all fours. Even if I have to show my hands. I will do it,” she told NBC in mid-June.
In recent weeks, there have been numerous rumours that her return could take place at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics on Friday night, but this has not been confirmed by the organisers or the singer's press.
However, Le Parisien wrote that according to its information, Dion will perform Edith Piaf's “L'Hymne à l'amour”.
According to the signs, Dion will not be the only international star at the opening, as Lady Gaga also arrived in the French capital on Monday, although her performance has not yet been confirmed.
