The event focused on acute stroke care, during which the hospital’s previous results related to stroke care were presented. The event was opened by Dr. Levente Kovajo, Chairman of the Scientific Committee. The meeting was organized by Zsolt Lakatos, Ph.D., and Dr. Moderated by Anka Kerso. The first speaker was Ferenc Tolde, employee of the medical department of the National Ambulance Service, who in his presentation “Pre-hospital tasks, organization of care” explained how many elements are involved in transporting a patient to the hospital. He said that often, the location, environment and danger make it very difficult to identify the problem as quickly as possible, and highlighted the area that needs to be fixed, in addition to careful documentation, and establishing appropriate and effective communication channels. The ambulance service has been operating the digital data recorder since 2018, and it is constantly under development.
Dr. László Szabó, MD, from the hospital’s emergency department, spoke about the primary care of hospitalized patients in his presentation titled “High-acute stroke care from an SBO perspective.” He said they receive notification and signal from paramedics even before they arrive, if they are taking a patient with suspected stroke. This is so that an appropriate team awaits the patient’s arrival, and after the initial examination, with the neurologist, they can immediately go to the CT scan and begin treatment. Since 2008, a total of 237 cases of stroke have been treated in the department.
Dr. Venta Lehel, a specialist in the neurology department at the hospital, gave a lecture entitled “Treatment of hyperacute venous thrombosis.” He talked about what changes have occurred in stork care, how the protocol has changed, how many differences still exist between American and European care protocols, and that the Hungarian protocol is not completely standardized and may vary from hospital to hospital.
Dr. Sandor Narday Ph.D. MBA. The Chief Physician of the Division of Neurointervention at the National Institute of Mental Neurology and Neurosurgery and Senior Associate Professor in the Group of the Division of Neurointervention at the Department of Neurosurgery at Semmelweis University made the following presentation, which he titled “High-acute stroke care: mechanical thrombectomy.” He stressed the importance of early treatment and called for the need for a complete review of the care protocol used in Hungary. He sees the future in effective cooperation between primary and secondary providers. He said, in addition to offering the widest possible use of intravenous anticoagulation therapy, they must be closely connected to the network.
