Slovak presidential candidate Peter Pellegrini (Hlas) has reportedly received the support of Hungarian League President, Krystian Fóró. New word. The agreement was reached unexpectedly quickly, and Foro canceled his planned meeting with the other candidate, former Foreign Minister Ivan Korczuk, who finished first in the first round.
The head of the Hungarian Collective Party participated in the government meeting in Galanta on Wednesday, then announced in the afternoon, standing next to current Speaker of the House of Representatives Pellegrini, that he would support him in the second round of the presidential elections. Foro, who was himself a candidate in the first round, finished poorly, receiving 2.91 percent of the votes.
Fóró said he finds it important for Hungarians and Slovaks to live in good relations in the country, and that he agrees with Pellegrini on these issues, who says regions inhabited by Hungarians should continue to develop.
The president of the association stated that he had discussed with Pellegrini specific issues affecting the Hungarian minority, such as the issue of dual citizenship, but they had not yet reached a common denominator. Incidentally, in 2010, Pellegrini voted in favor of the strict dual citizenship law currently in place, which negatively affects the Hungarian minority.
When journalists asked him about the details for which Pellegrini promised the Hungarian Federation support, the spokesman replied: Support for several projects has also been raised, for example in the field of healthcare, and he mentioned the possibility of building a new hospital in Remaszombat.
