In Miercurea Ciuc, more than 3,500 people attended the traditional food dedication to Easter Sunday while strictly adhering to epidemic control regulations.
According to a report by the news agency Agerpres, the mayor’s office has made it possible to consecrate food this year not only in the square in front of the Administrative Palace, but also on the street that passes the square. Thus, families can line up beyond the distance required by the epidemic and wait for the consecration of Easter meals by priests performing the liturgy.
As can be seen in the short film posted on the Székelyhon.ro portal, most of the families packed the food they took for dedication into a bamboo basket, and many wore the folk costumes for the ceremony. The priests had to travel several miles as they passed in front of everyone and sprinkle each basket with holy water.
Romanian Health Minister Vlad Vojkulescu pointed to the dedication of disciplined food in Mercuria Ciuc, which strictly adheres to epidemiological rules, as a positive example in a statement on Sunday.
„I was influenced by the images of Miercurea Ciuc, with the faithful celebrating Easter, who also expressed their sense of responsibility and solidarity. Congratulations to the organizers and participants“! – Tell.
And in Mercuria Seok, on Sunday, the rate of new infections recorded per thousand people during the past two weeks reached 2.36. The number is lower than the national average.
