Could 2014's Thief get a bigger facelift?

Could 2014's Thief get a bigger facelift?

An interesting rumor surfaced, but since then the post has strangely disappeared from Reddit, but it's worth checking out to see what it could be.

The story of the thief is very sad. The last time we saw the series was in 2014, because Thief was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in February 2014, ten and a half years ago, developed by Eidos Montréal and published by Square Enix. Garrett was not well received. Although the stealth mechanics and replayability were positive elements of the game, there was not a lot of interest in it.

However, the franchise broke its ten-year silence with the release of a reboot. Before that, Ion Storm's Thief: Deadly Shadows was released in May 2004, but the game using Unreal Engine 2 (the 2014 release ran on the third version) was only released for PC and Xbox at the time. It wasn't bad, in fact, it received very good reviews from the press that year. In particular, one of the tracks in it, Robbing the Cradle, which also reached a certain point in the survival horror genre, is memorable to this day. Despite the fact that it did not achieve the expected sales, the publisher Eidos stopped development of the fourth part, Thief 4: Dagger of Ways…

According to a since-deleted Reddit rumor, a remake of the 2014 Thief movie might be in the works with the subtitle Master Thief, but honestly, we don’t see much reason for that, given that the franchise was already dead in 2014, and this was kind of a weak attempt to revive it. Still, the third installment was pretty good and only failed because it didn’t sell well. (There are still examples of this in the present day: think of the Electronic Arts trilogy, Motive, and Dead Space Remake.)

This rumor isn't official, and there probably isn't much truth to it. It would make more sense for Eidos Montréal to revamp Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as it would be easier to port the game that was originally released for PS3 and X360.
