Crowds on the road during fall break – Economy – News

Autumn holiday dates between October 26 and November 3 are showing high interest among domestic travelers booking on Szallas.hu: the number of advance bookings has increased by 9 percent compared to last year's autumn holiday – Szallas.hu announced the results of its holiday survey on Friday.

Most of the advance reservations concern the areas of North Great Plain, North Hungary and South Great Plain, while Eger, Gyula, Budapest, Pécs and Szeged are at the top of the list of settlements.

Half of the bookings are for two nights, a quarter are for three, and 16% are for one night. They added that in September and October, a quarter of the total value of online payments related to domestic bookings was settled using the SZÉP card.

Although October 23 does not fall on a long weekend this year, the last day of school on Friday, October 25, begins fall break, followed by the November 1 long weekend.

Besides last-minute bookings, another significant increase is expected in the coming days,” added Lily Kelemen, press spokesperson for Szallas.hu, in the announcement.

The autumn period is suitable for hotels: guests chose a hotel for a third of advance bookings. A quarter chose an apartment, a fifth chose a guest house, every tenth guest chose a house, while 5% were looking for another type of accommodation. 38 percent of advance bookings were for wellness stays.

34 percent of domestic bookings for autumn holidays are between 50,000 and 100,000 HUF, while 30 percent have a basket value of less than 50,000 HUF. 17 percent of bookings are between 100 and 150 thousand HUF, and approximately 9 percent represent a basket value of 150 to 200 thousand HUF. Just over 7 percent of bookings are between 200 and 300 thousand HUF, and only 3 percent are more than 300 thousand HUF.

At this time, all accommodation providers are preparing seasonal and other special programmes. There will be pumpkin carving in many places, but somewhere in between there will be a witch school, a mini Halloween disco, face painting and glitter painting, a costume contest, and a children's show, the spokesman added. For adults, wine tasting and extended wellness hours are offered in some places – notes Lily Kelemen.
