MOVIE NEWS — Former stunt stuntman Chris Brewster is worried about what Marvel Studios is doing with the character.
After brief appearances in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk, as well as a potential role in Echo, the character played by Charlie Cox will get his own series in the MCU next year. Daredevil: Born Again will provide a new story for the fearless man following the hit series on Netflix.
However, after what has been done with the character in the Tatiana Maslany-led She-Hulk series, some fans are concerned about how different the new series will be from the Netflix series, which has been one of the most popular productions in the superhero genre. .
It seems fans aren’t the only ones who have doubts about what Marvel Studios will do with the character. In an interview with the Ikuzo Unscripted podcast, former stuntman Chris Brewster shared his thoughts on the studio’s approach to the character and differences with Netflix:
“Now that the MCU has taken over the character, I think they’re really hurting him. If you look at She-Hulk, they’ve turned Daredevil into a cartoon. Everything looks animated and bad. You know, I like CG to improve real action, but if there’s no movement… Real, they’re just animation. It’s just CG, it has no weight. Daredevil’s work has always been so good because it’s visceral. I felt what Charlie felt, between his portrayal and his presence in action. And what I saw, we really saw. We had to put someone on a wire “We needed something to boost the action. But this wasn’t a cartoon. This was live-action. And the energy of live-action movies can never be matched. So I think She-Hulk was a huge step backwards in terms of action and action.”
Chris Brewster says Marvel Studios got Daredevil wrong.
In the interview, Brewster revealed another reason why he believes the MCU isn’t doing Daredevil right:
They really, really, don’t want anything like Marvel’s Netflix Daredevil. So, no one who worked on the original series is coming back, except for characters who are being brought back. And I mean, there were some really great people who worked on that show, and I think they really added To the magic of the show. I think Marvel is making a huge mistake, but what can we do?”
There’s no doubt that the success of the Daredevil and The Defenders universes, despite series like Iron Fist receiving quite a bit of criticism, is down to the team behind them.
However, the other big hit of the Man Without Fear release at the time was the interpretation of the villain played by Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Both of them will be part of the new story, which can really guarantee the quality.
It’s also true that the tone Marvel Studios uses for their stories is very different from the Netflix series. However, other projects like Captain America: The Winter Soldier or the recently released Secret Invasion are proving themselves capable of telling darker, more mature stories.
Plus, new characters are coming to the MCU soon. They keep contributing to this idea of expanding their audience and target age group, like Deadpool 3 or Blade. Daredevil: Born Again can go along with these stories.
