David Frost: England will not be a loyalty country

We will not be one of the countries loyal to the EU, David Frost, the head of the English negotiating team on Brexit, told Mill on Sunday. As he said, Britain would not be the first to “blink first” at this game and the kingdom would not be afraid to leave without a deal either, Reuters reported in the article.

The United Kingdom withdrew from the European Union on January 31, followed by an eleven-month transition period, at the end of which the two sides are due to agree on the regulation of future relations.

The last round of negotiations ended on August 21, and is scheduled for next week. The British want a comprehensive free trade agreement with the European Union.

After the latest seventh round of talks, David Frost said the EU remains committed to London continuing to embrace EU policy rules on state aid and fisheries regulation.

The head of the English negotiating delegation also said in a statement on Sunday that they would not compromise on the basis of control over their own laws and would not adopt rules that would undermine equal opportunity, just as the European Union cannot interfere in the matter of controlling their currency. In his view, all this should not be disputed, as the citizens of the United Kingdom voted for a free and independent England when they voted to leave the European Union. He added: England considers a free trade agreement similar to Canada is conceivable.

The British chief negotiator responded evasively to the question of whether, in the absence of an agreement, the British Royal Navy could start patrols from January, at the end of the transitional period, in British territorial waters to protect British fishing rights. Frost said he did not want to go into detail about how Britain would control its territorial waters, but that it was up to the British government, as well as to decide who would have access to those waters if there was no agreement on fishing with the European Union. .

The British negotiator sharply criticized former Prime Minister Theresa May’s Brexit negotiating practice, saying: May’s government backed down at crucial moments, and the EU came to the conclusion that what the British were saying should not be taken seriously.

“That’s why a lot of the work this year is about educating the EU: we are serious about what we say, and they have to take our position seriously,” he added.

David Frost stressed that the British government was “not at all afraid” of the prospect of not eventually reaching a bilateral trade agreement with the European Union. It continues and accelerates preparations in case of non-compliance with the Agreement and is ready to maintain its trade relations with the Union in such circumstances.

“Hungary treated us with the most fairness”

Ian Lindsey is the UK ambassador to In a farewell interview with Majyar Namzat He explained his stance on the state of Brexit, rekindled his memories of Hungary, and explained why he could identify with Hungarians as Scottish.
