Ghost Ship Games has announced Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, which turns the usual co-op shooter into a roguelite. You’ll have to wait another year for early access.
The Deep Rock Galactic series is expanding well: after revealing the top-down spin-off in March, we get another spin-off: this is Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core. The basics haven’t changed, we’re still dealing with a first-person shooter optimized for co-op, but this time in a roguelite style.
That is, in each mission we start from the basics and develop the strength and capabilities of our team with other space dwarves. The longer we stay alive, the greater the reward, but other times we fail spectacularly and lose everything.
According to the story, a new expensive and useful metal is discovered on the planet Hoxxes IV, and the dwarves of the mining company Deep Rock Galactic go on a secret mission to collect this precious material. But without any signal, all the excavation sites go dark and communication is cut off.
This time too, four of us can enter the battle, choosing our stage clothes and weapons, but once the minerals are collected, we can use them to make temporary improvements. The deeper you go, the more challenging it becomes, and the goal is to pass all the stages, reach the core and recover the mining site.
Ghost Ship Games has announced an open development process, so it’s getting fans involved in the work. Early access will start in November 2024 on Steam
