Rib and thumb injuries did not prevent Matthew Stafford from starting Saturday’s game against the Tampa Bay PiratesBut an ankle injury knocked Stafford out of play at Ford.
Stafford suffered the injury in Lions’ third offensive play, when he rolled his right ankle while trying to avoid hitting midfielder Devin White.
He stayed in the next play, completing a 2-yard pass to Danny Amendula that was below the first landing, then went to the Lions seat, where he immediately received medical attention.
The coaches reattached Stafford’s ankle, but he was unable to put any weight on his foot and jumped one leg into the tunnel behind the Lyons seat. It was 2 versus 3 for 17 yards.
