Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday morning local time to participate in the third forum of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, where he is expected to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
MTI reports that this is the second known foreign trip for Putin and his entourage since the arrest warrant issued by the Hague-based International Criminal Court in March, after he visited Kyrgyzstan at the beginning of the month.
Upon his arrival at Beijing International Airport, Putin and his accompanying delegation were received by Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao.
Russian media reports said that Putin will attend the official opening ceremony of the forum on Tuesday, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping, and will hold talks with the leaders of Vietnam, Thailand, Mongolia and Laos.
As the chief guest of the forum, Putin will deliver a speech after Xi on Wednesday and meet with the Chinese president in a bilateral meeting on the same day.
Viktor Orban, who also traveled to the Chinese capital to attend the event, held bilateral talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday.
