CDPR developers pay tribute to the character flair of GTA: San Andreas with a very nice reference in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty.

04.01.2024 – Cyberpunk 2077 was already a huge game at the time of its release, but it was difficult to find due to the many bugs it contained. However, three years later, it is already considered one of the best open-world action RPGs of all time – thanks to the truly dedicated developers of CD Projekt RED, who did not stop beating the game despite completely justified criticism.
Therefore, everyone is more excited to explore the dirty streets of Night City, which in some places hold interesting and smiling surprises for players. A lot of references, guest appearances, gags, jokes, parodies, Easter eggs and direct references color the world of Cyberpunk, to which the Phantom Liberty, which was a little delayed due to repair work, but at least turned out to be quite adequate Great, added a lot to it.
Filming everything would be very sinister, because that would lose the joy of discovery, but at the same time, there are one or two not so hidden, but easy to miss amidst the excitement of the plot, hints of other open-world action. A game considered one of the best legendary games GTA: San Andreas. Easter eggs paying tribute to CJ and his gang can already be found in the base game;
- In the Santo Domingo area of the city, for example We can visit The iconic location of the famous Rockstar game, Groove Street,
- And in the menu of the Capitan Caliente restaurant, we can also find interesting dishes that the Big Smoke will definitely reward.
Phantom Liberty adds something else to this, and at the beginning of its story, those with an eye can spot another San Andreas reference. Of course, the story could begin with a phone call, and since the conversation was so momentous, many people did not notice the numbers written on the payphone—or, if they did, did not give much importance amid the great excitement. However, if we take a closer look and give ourselves a moment to think, the tension may actually decrease:
“Two 9s, a large 9, a 6 with extra sauce, a 7, two 45s, cheese, and a large soda.”
– Kind of like that memorable early scene when CJ, Sweet, Ryder, and Big Smoke stop by the Cluckin' Bell fast food restaurant in San Andreas for a good meal, and Smoke then starts listing off how much he wants to consume out of his monthly caloric intake in half hour. We can see exactly this dial scratched on the phone.
But it's pretty certain that we can find a lot of other hidden references in Cyberpunk, which anyone can jump into now, as it has really matured into great entertainment in the past few years. Who knows, maybe in GTA VI we will come across references to Cyberpunk 2077.
