British researchers have found a specific solution to weight problems. The invention is two magnets that are placed on the patient’s teeth. The trick of the device is that it does not allow a person to open their mouth wide enough to eat solid food.
– The device, developed by researchers in the UK and the University of Otago in New Zealand, uses unique magnetic devices with personalized locking screws that can be attached to the back teeth – writes hirado.hu
On the educational institution’s Twitter page, researchers from Otago and the UK have developed the world’s first weight-loss device to help fight global obesity: an oral device that restricts a person to a liquid diet.
A device called DentalSlim Diet Control regulates the wearer’s diet so they can open their mouth just two millimeters away. The invention was studied for two weeks in seven obese but healthy women.
The subjects lost an average of 6.36 kg, or approximately 5.1 percent of their body weight. Participants said they were satisfied with the results and were excited to lose more weight, according to the results article. There were occasional annoyances, of course: One participant said it this way, trying to get a fresh taste experience with melted chocolate and consuming soft drinks. Applicants also had difficulty pronouncing certain words.
The invention has been attacked on various community sites, and the university posted a blog post in response.
– We would like to make it clear that the device is not intended for short or long term weight loss. Instead, it helps people who need to undergo or cannot have surgery until they lose weight, the community profile said.
