At the suggestion of the Secret Service, Donald Trump will deliver his speeches at outdoor campaign rallies behind bulletproof glass. The Guardian writesThis measure is necessary because of the assassination attempt on the president in July.

Trump has held nearly a dozen campaign events since the Pennsylvania attack, all of them indoors. However, at the latest meeting, he said he wouldn’t give up outdoor events either.

The plan is for the Secret Service to surround the president with bulletproof glass on three sides, but it is not clear at this time when the security measure will be used for the first time.

A Secret Service member told The Washington Post that they have already started placing bottles in different parts of the country to make logistics easier. Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will use the same protection at her events if she deems it necessary.

This safety glass is typically only used for presidents and vice presidents, although it was used in November 2008 in Barack Obama's election victory speech in Chicago.
