Dozens of airport workers have been arrested for stealing hundreds of millions of Hungarian forints from passengers in Spain

Police have arrested 14 airport workers at Tenerife Airport after police confiscated a quantity of watches and jewelery from their possession. It is known that passengers were affected in a total of more than seven hundred million forints.

Recently, the Spanish authorities announced the arrest of more than ten airport workers. According to suspicion, the group systematically stole valuables worth more than seven hundred million forints from checked baggage. The authorities confiscated a large sum of cash, twenty-nine luxury watches, twenty-two mobile phones, electronic devices, and one hundred and twenty pieces of jewelry.

It is understood that twenty other employees were also involved in the crimes.

According to police, the thefts occurred while luggage was being loaded and unloaded from aircraft. Workers performed tasks much slower, so they had time to inspect packages and poke holes in bag zippers. After the theft, the parcels were completely resealed, so it was impossible at first glance to determine that anything had been stolen from them.

As you know, Sur Reina Sofia is the largest airport in the Canary Islands. Last year, it handled 10.8 million passengers, making it the seventh busiest airport in Spain.
